I’ve been struggling a bit during this winter season.  It’s easy to feel like things have become stagnant when it’s “slow” season.  But it’s sessions like this Toledo engagement session that remind me that, while only February, wedding season will be here before we know it.

It never fails.  The first break in the winter weather and everyone floods the Toledo area Metroparks, particularly Wildwood.  Who can blame us?  Cabin fever is a real thing here in Northwest Ohio, so any opportunity to go out and get some fresh air during February and we will take it!

So when I saw we were going to have a 50 degree day, I asked Christina and Tyler if they would be up for doing their engagement session.  I’m so glad they were!  It was quite a different experience from the winter engagement session I did just a few weeks ago (which I also love), when the park was virtually empty.  Yes, the park was PACKED.  But, it was totally worth creeping on people to take their parking spot for (raise your hand if this is something you had to do on the daily in college- University of Toledo grads out there?)  This is where some of my photography training kicked in.  It was almost impossible in some areas of the park to NOT get people in the background of the shot.  Literally.  That’s how busy the park was.  So in order to compensate, I popped on that beautiful 85mm lens that allowed for more compression- aka the background was much more blurred so that we didn’t see all those people in the background.  Love me some 85mm portraits!

The nice thing about being so familiar with that park is knowing the spots that won’t be congested with people on days like this one.  I had a great time getting to know these two before wedding day- something I like to do so that we are more comfortable with each other on the actual wedding day.  And you know my heart was happy with that sunshine creating a beautiful glow in these images.  Another gorgeous Toledo Metropark engagement session in the books!
