On Monday I was reminded that patience is a virtue. Despite the weather saying we were in the clear, the clouds rolled in and rain started within ten minutes of our senior shoot.
I admit it. I am a very impatient person. I like answers, results, everything STAT (can you tell I’m in the medical field?). Is that song from Willy Wonka coming to anyone else’s mind or is it just me? “I want it NOWWWWW.” I look at people who have been in their business for over ten years and wonder why I’m not there in three. And while my impatience does contribute to productivity at times, it can also yield disappointment and frustration. You can’t expect to be an expert at something without practice and repetition. In the words of Mary Marantz“Slow growth equals strong roots.” So I need to slow down, enjoy the journey, and focus on planting strong roots.
I got some good practice with patience on Monday. I checked the weather all day to make sure it was going to be good for my senior session. But as soon as we arrived and started to shoot, the clouds rolled in and it started to rain! I said to Paige, lets wait it out for about 15 minutes and see what happens. Fifteen minutes feels like FOREVER when people are waiting on you to make a call. But I sat in my car and kept an eye on the clouds. And what do you know? The rain stopped, the clouds parted, and we even got some sun peaking through! Amanda-1, Impatience- 0! Woohoo- it was so worth the wait!
Paige is a Senior Spokesmodel for AC Photography Seniors of 2018. She’s a varsity cheerleader for her high school and is also involved in competitive cheer- which in my opinion is no joke! Paige was such a natural for her senior photos and is such a lovely young lady. I hope you enjoy your senior year and soak it all in. It goes by way too fast!
