This weekend was the official start to my wedding season, and I couldn’t imagine spending it with anyone other than these two.

 

Wedding photography is such a process.  From booking until wedding day, I try to be very intentional about every step.  For me, it’s not just about being a vendor on wedding day.  I strive to get to know my couples and feel more like we have a friendship than a “strictly business” relationship.  I get excited for my couples- so much so that I usually don’t sleep well the night before because I’m so excited to be a part of their wedding day (well, and let’s face it- because I’m OCD and try to make everything run as perfectly as I can for them. Which gets my mind racing too)  

It’s crazy to me how the right people just seem to have crossed my path- and I am SO thankful!  I met with Joe and Brittany probably about eight or nine months ago for their consultation.  I’m not going to lie- consultations can be a bit nerve wracking.  You meet up with people you’ve never met before.  I awkwardly sit at a coffee shop trying to see if I recognize them when they walk in and hope that I wave down the right people.  You make eye contact like “I’m pretty sure that’s you, but we’ve never met before. So I hope it’s you!”  Let’s be honest, it just feels awkward.

But nothing with these two has felt awkward since.  Joe and Brittany are so easy to get along with.  I can tell exactly what his best man meant in his speech when he said “When you’re friends with Joe, you have a friend for life.”  And they have already gone through a lot as an engaged couple- not even marriage yet!  They bought a house and just had a series of very unfortunate events.  But I prayed for them and sent them letters of encouragement, which has allowed me to feel an even deeper connection to these two than I’ve had with probably any other couple.  We shared so many hugs throughout their wedding day that I felt like I was just hanging out with two friends on their wedding day.  That to me is priceless!

And the rain held off for us!  It was a hot one- but everything went off without a hitch.  From a beautiful outdoor ceremony to some fun, glowy evening portraits, I absolutely loved getting to be a part of their wedding day.  Joe even trusted me enough to drive them down a hill in a gas golf cart (which I let him take over soon after because I’m not going to be the one to tip a golf cart with the bride and groom in it. Just saying.)  Thank you two for being so awesome to work with and even more, for becoming friends to me.  You are truly the best!
