I often joke about how Ohio living is pretty boring- particularly Northwest Ohio. Growing up here, it’s so easy to take any hidden gems for granted. One of those gems is the Lake Erie coast. No, it’s not sparkly blue like the Carolina or Florida coasts. But there is something to be said about the wonders of lake living. Catawba Island is definitely one of those hidden gems. With it being so close to home and my in-laws living there during the summer, I’ve spent a lot of time on this island. I love it. But with as many times as I’ve been there, I’ve never been to the Catawba Island club. And let me tell you- I was in awe. I felt like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz saying “I don’t think we’re in Ohio anymore.” Maybe it’s my naivety to coastal living, but to me, the scenery is that of the California or Carolina coast.
Matt and Mollie’s Ohio Island wedding Saturday was so magical. It was a combination of everything that I love- outdoors (and double bonus- by the water), neutral tones, romantic details, and one stunning couple in love. The day started out with a steady rain. No matter what people say about rain being good luck on wedding day, it naturally increases the bride’s stress level. But just as we were ready to get the show on the road, the clouds parted and there was not another drop for the rest of the evening. Thanks God- I’m looking at you.
From the perfect flowing ballgown that perfectly fit their nautical feel, to a gorgeous floral crown of white roses and greenery, Mollie absolutely rocked #bridegoals. Matt’s love for his bride and his family was so apparent throughout the day. I don’t know if it was the lake living effect, but everything felt so relaxed and joyful.
